Here’s the Daily ESG Digest for January 12th, Wednesday.

1. (North America) Clean Electricity. In 2022, It is expected 46.1 gigawatts (GW) of new utility-scale electric generating capacity to be added to the U.S. power grid, according to our Preliminary Monthly Electric Generator Inventory. Almost half of the planned 2022 capacity additions are solar, followed by natural gas at 21% and wind at 17%. (Link)

2. (Europe) Plastic Recycling. Industrial decarbonization-focused private equity investor Ara Partners announced today it has made a €100 million commitment to Repeats Group B.V., which plans to build a pan-European plastics recycling platform focused on producing recycled low-density polyethylene (LDPE). 3. (Global) Low GWP Refrigerant. Thermo King, the transport and refrigeration unit of HVAC and climate control solutions company Trane Technologies, announced today that it will transition its truck and trailer products to come standard with a lower global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant.
