Here’s the Daily ESG Digest for January 17th, Monday.

1. (Europe) Wind Farms are Earning Money. With record-high natural gas prices driving up costs this winter, power from once-expensive offshore wind farms is so much cheaper than conventional plants that they are paying millions of pounds back to the Low Carbon Contracts Company, the government entity in charge of the support mechanism. 2. (North America) Heavy-Duty Electric Truck. Volvo Trucks announced today the launch of a new heavy-duty electric truck for the North American market, with significantly expanded range and energy storage capacity compared with its current model. (Link)

3. (Asia) Offshore Wind. Iberdrola said last week that it has signed an agreement with Stream Invest Holding AG, a Swiss renewable energy group, and Triconti ECC Renewables, the Philippines’ largest independent wind developer, securing an option to enter five offshore wind projects at very early stages of development.
